An experiment was conducted to determine the effect of urea as foliar spray on 5 cultivars of coconut seedlings in polybags at the Horticulture Department, University of Phillipines at Los Banos, College, Laguna. The effect of foliar sprays of urea on height increment among cultivar varied significantly, with Laguna Tall (LA) as the tallest (56.01) and RGD/YD, the shortest. Seedling at the Laguna variety also had the most number of leaves (3.6) while RGD/YD had the least (3.3). The girth of the stem was not affected by N spray levels, frequency of application and cultivar but was positively correlated with height, number of fully-opened leaves and earliness to leaf splinting. Leaf splinting was significantly earlier in hybrids than in seedling of LA varieties but it was not affected by N level and frequency of application.
