Interaction effect between clones and exploitation systems on yields and secondary characteristics of small scale recommended clones

Yield of rubber trees, among other things, is influenced by the capacity of the trees and by the exploitation systems used. Each activity to increase yield by exploitation method will affect the secondary characteristics of the trees. To find out the relative yield capacity and appropriate exploitation systems for small scale recommended clones, it is necessary to carry out an experiment of exploitation systems on some clones. The objective of the experiment was to observe the relative yield capacity of three small scale recommended clones, i.e. GYT 577, BPM 21 and BPM 24 with GT 1 as control clone. Some exploitation systems were used on one or two panels on the same tapping day. Results of the three years' experiment showed that the exploitation system of 1/2S d/3.ET 2.5 percent Ba 1.0(1.6). 12/y(m) on panel BO-1 significantly increased mean yield of the four clones concerned i.e. 108 percent. Meanwhile double-panel combination tapping and double-band puncture tapping only gave yield to around 68-83 percent of 1/2S d/3. ET 2.5 percent Ba 1.0(1.6) 12/y(m) on panel BO-1, the yield would increase up to 2485 kg/ha/year or 123 percent. To increase yield of small scale recommended clones, it is suggested to use the exploitation system of 1/2S d/3 ET, 2.5 percent Ba. 0(1.6) 12/y(m) on panel BO-1. Results of this experiment also support the recommendation of BPM 24 clone for a large scale planting.
