Khalil, A.B.
This work is an attempt to investigate the effect of some heavy metals on the survival duration, and the respiratory physiology of the freshwater fish Cyprinion macrostomus and the rate of their bioaccumulation in various fish organs during exposure to sub-lethal concentrations for various length of time. The results showed that the sequence of toxicity of the heavy metals used was as follows: copper cadmium zinc chromium manganese lead, also the rate of bioaccumulation of lead by various fish organs was proportional with the time of exposure, thus the lowest rate of accumulation was observed in fish exposed for 24 hours and the highest rate was observed in fish exposed for 120 hours
