Early Pregnancy Factor (EPF) is a specific substance to the gestation period, which was found by Morton et al in 1974 and has been detected in many animal species such as human, cattle, sheep, swine and rats since then. This EPF, which appears immediately after fertilization to the second trimester, plays an important role in the immunological relationship between the fetus and its mother in early gestation in particular. At present EPF is detected with rosette inhibition test and results vary with researchers. A few reports are available in cattle and the method of estimation has not been established yet. Therefore, the present study was made in order to examine various factors which influence the rosette inhibition test of cattle and to establish any stable experimental system. On the basis of the results obtained from the rosettle inhibition test, the effectiveness of EPF as an early diagnoses of pregnancy in cattle was also examined
