[Black andosols and the water cycle in the "Cofre de Perote" volcano (Veracruz)]

英语. Andic soils are originated from volcanic materials and their specific properties are due to abundant amorphous minerals with aspect of gels. Black andic soils show an upper organic layer whose thickness may vary from 0.5 to 3 meters. These soils are found on the humid slopes of the "Cofre de Perote" volcano, between altitudes of 2000 and 3500 meters above sea level. The study of the hydrodynamic properties of black andic soils from the "Cofre de Perote" volcano leads to four major results: the black organic upper horizon shows a field density lower than other andic horizons; the porosity of the black material is very abundant and increases to the bottom of the soil; the total soil water content is very high and reaches 533 liters m-3 up to 1.50 m deep; the soils store 133 liters m-3 up to 1.50 m deep of available water for plant growth and without much variation during the year. These results emphasize the importance of black andic soils in the storage and regulation of subsurface waters. They also prove that soil compactation lowers or decreases the total water content, and soil dehydration reduces irreversibly soil moisture retention at low tensions in 60 (percent). Consequently, the integral conservation of black andic soils in their natural environment is recommended.

西班牙语; 卡斯蒂利亚语. Los andosoles son suelos de origen volcanico que deben sus propiedades especificas a la presencia de abundantes minerales amorfos con aspecto de geles. Los andosoles negros presentan una capa superior muy organica que puede variar de 0.5 hasta 3 m de espesor. Aquellos suelos se encuentran en las laderas humedas del Cofre de Perote, entre 2000 y 3500 metros de altitud sobre el nivel de mar (msnm). De un estudio de las propiedades hidrodinamicas de los andosoles negros del cofre de Perote destacan cuatro resultados importantes: los horizontes negros se diferencian de los otros materiales por una densidad aparente muy baja, una porosidad muy elevada sobre todo en la parte inferior del suelo, un contenido de agua total elevado (533 litros m-3 hasta 1.50 m de profundidad) y una disponibilidad de 133 litros m-3 de agua util para la vegetacion, sin variacion notable durante el ano. Estos resultados destacan el papel de los suelos para almacenar y regular las aguas superficiales. Tambien subrayan que son muy sensibles a la compactacion, fenomeno que disminuye la humedad total del suelo, y tambien a la desecacion, que reduce irreversiblemente en un 60 (porciento) la retencion de la humedad a bajas tensiones. Por eso se recomienda la conservacion integral de los andosoles negros en su ambiente natural.
