Processing potato variety trial

Eleven varieties were evaluated for their agronomic performance and processing suitability at Fang Research Station from Nov 1992 to March 1993. Tubers produced from rooted stem cuttings were used in the experiment and were planted using RCBD [randomized complete block design] with three replications. Tuber yield of the 11 varieties ranged from 5.6 to 43.8 t/ha. Fang 60, Kennebec and Famosa gave yields exceeding 40 t/ha, which were significantly higher than those of the other entries. Evaluation of processing quality of harvested tubers showed that Kennebec and Famosa produced good quality chips
