The studies were carried out on 1658 cows using starch electrophoresis. Differences found between the cattle breeds concerned the number and frequencies of the studied enzyme phenotypes (ceruloplasmin, amylase 1, amylase 2, and alkaline phosphatase). There was a lack of equilibrium between the observed and expected number of phenotypes in most of the studied blood protein systems. Differences in the enzyme frequencies of the studied cows may be used for ancestry identification. Ceruloplasmin and amylase 1 proved to be most suitable for that purpose
