Current problems concerning seed production of awnless bromegrass (Bromus inermis Leys.) in the Wielkopolska Region

The results of long-term investigations on seed production of awnless bromegrass are presented. The production is characterized by a high vitality of plants in the period of growth and in the ripening phase, slow ripening rate of seeds, abundant foliage of shoots and differentiated structure of aboveground mass. The method and technique of measurements should take into account the above specific features. The significant changes in the content of water sugars shows that particularly such a characteristic as slow ripening rate of seeds is of great importance
