Quality characteristics of a few blackcurrant cultivars and clones and the quality of obtained compotes and frozen fruit

Fruit of investigated cultivars and clones are much differentiated in respect to firmness, ascorbic acid and anthocyanins content. Fruit of Pilot Al. Mamkin, Minay Shmyrev and those of clone 7/75-4 are unsuitable for compote production because of low product firmness and poor texture of processed product. Fruit of Triton and Titania are equally suitable for freezing and compote production as those of Ojebyn cultivar. Clone 1/74-32 deserves further attention in breeding program and field experiments for its late ripening and favourable fruit quality characteristics
