Several chemicals were trialed for controlling the fungus and the toxins. Sodium metabisulfite showed a promissing future on controlling the fungus for a short period, especially in the raining season where corn cannot be dried in time. Initial aflatoxin content of 425 ppb was reduced to a level of lower than 20 ppb within 1 hour at 90 deg. celsius by 0.5 % ammonia (W/W). Lower doses were found effectively on ground corn, and effected less coloration and odor.
