SADH and yield increment in groundnut

To study the effects of succinic acid 2,2-dimethylhydrazide in increasing yield of groundnut, SADH at 1.2 kg a.i./ha was sprayed to groundnut cultivars SK 38 and Tainan 9 at 40 days after emergence in large plots and compared to non-sprayed treatments. The experiment was conducted at the National Corn and Sorghum Research Center, Nakon Ratchasima province, during July to December 1987. Higher seed yields were obtained from SADH application in both cultivars. Yield of the cultivar SK 38 increased by 6.17 % in 50 cm. row spacing and by 4.23 % in 30 cm. row spacing, while yield increases in Tainan 9 were 14.59 % and 18.30 % in 50 cm. and 30 cm. row spacings, respectively. SADH caused a reduction in internode elongation and shoot dry matter resulting in higher number of pods formed and better partitioning of photosynthates into seeds, thus giving higher seed yield.
