Effect of paclobutrazol on growth and vase life of Dendrobium Venus No.9

Single application of paclobutrazol at concentrations of 5,10,15 and 20 mg./plant was given to the growing media of Dendrobium Venus No.9 in order to reduce the height of new pseudobulb. All concentrations had no significant effect on number of inflorescences, length of inflorescences, number of florets per inflorescence and floret size. Paclobutrazol at 20 mg./plant had significant effect on the reduction of height, leaf number and maximum growth period of pseudobulbs and the increase in longer vase life than the control.
