Effects of rock phosphate on wheat growth and soil fertility improvement

This experiment concerns with the effects of rock phosphate and its residue on wheat growth, yield and soil fertility improvement, comparing with triple superphosphate. The experiment was started to conduct in dry season of 1984-85 at Phrae Rice Research Center. The Samoeng 2 wheat was grown in paddy field with the application of 5 different rates of rock phosphate : 0 200 400 800 1,600 kg/ha, and 130 kg/ha of triple superphosphate. The experimental result of the last year showed that the yield tend to increase with the increasing rates of fertilizer. In 1985/86, the confirmatory experiment was conducted in the new plots with the same rates and sources of fertilizers but applying in band. Meanwhile, the study on the residual effects was going on in the same plots of last year. The data of the experiments can be summarized that the yield of wheat was high up with the application of phosphate. However, rock phosphate in the rates of 400 to 1,600 kg/ha and 130 kg/ha of triple superphosphate gave no significant difference among their yield. The residue of rock phosphate from last year cropping showed low effects on wheat yield of this year.
