Dodder (Cuscuta Spp.) also known as love vine or strangleweed is one of the unique types of seed plants that parasitize green plants. It's a serious troublesome 'weed' found in a variety of habitats including shrubs and herbs. Casual observations in Uganda have revealed that it is a serious parasite of ornamental plants eg. Bougainvillea and Hibiscus spp., coffee etc. Attack by this parasite reduces the growth and yield of infected plants and dogs up harvesting machinery
