The influence of the production factors and saving on quantitative and qualitative beetroot characteristics
1992
Ilic, Z.
It is established that the mass of beetroot significantly grow with increasing amount of the nitrate fertilizers from 50 kg/ha to 200 kg/ha in both terms of picking, so the mass of beetroot in the autumn picking in relation to the year is bigger by about 91.4 to the summer picking. During the beetroot keeping there occur quantity and quality changes. Biologically, beetroot picked in autumn is better (it contains more dry matters and betanin and a lower quantity of nitrate and nitrite) and it lasts longer than those taken in summer. The keeping of beetroot in refrigerators gives better results than to keep it in cellars. Packing in polyethylene bags provides less changes in mass and chemical construction than those packed in paper bags.
