Nutritional risk factors for early atherogenesis

Among the well known risk factors for atherogenesis, in Yugoslav nutrition the exageration of food energy (21.6 over the needs) and of animal fats (32.3 over the needs, saturated fat acids 33 over the needs) was established. The ingestion of polyunsaturated and monosaturated fatty acids is also too high, as well as the ingestion of mono- and disaccharides. The deficiency of dietetic fibres reached 20-40 of the needs.
