It has been found that the leaf groups tested do not have an identical effect on yield forming. Largest yield reductions, 30-40, were obtained with the removal of medium old leaves. The removal of young leaves brought yield reductions of 17-25, while the removal of old leaves brought insignificant reductions. The removal of two groups of leaves had much higher effect on yield level than the removal of a single group. The removal of leaves affected all elements of ear and grain which determine yield level.
