Much of the High Aterno Valley (Apennines of Abruzzo, Italy) is covered by reafforested areas with Pinus nigra Arn. These areas fall on both private and public lands. Scientific studies on the development of these forest ecosystems should point out their structural changes and regeneration. The present paper shows the results of the regeneration of nine sample areas representative of the reafforested territory.
