The influence of four new derivatives of the phenylacetic acid (PAA) and the 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid (4-CPA) on the growth of the tobacco callus tissues was investigated. The auxin activity of these compounds was compared with that of wide-used auxin for this purpose - 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) at a concentration of 0.2mg/l. The hydrazides of PAA and 4-CPA showed higher stimulating effect than 2,4-D on the accumulation of biomass at a concentration of 0.2mg/l, 19.2 and 37.5, respectively. It is drawn the activity order of compounds in respect to the optimum concentrations for the callus growth. Some chemical structure-physiological activity relationships have been established.
