Analysis of productivity and quality in chemically induced mutant wheat lines
1994
Tohver, M.
In wheat breeding programmes major emphasis is usually given to factors that affect grain yield. Since wheat is an important source of vegetable protein for people and cattle, improving its feeding and bread-making quality is also important. The purpose is to obtain wheat cultivars with a minimum 13 per cent of grain protein and 25 per cent gluten, Falling Number 240...250 sec and grain yield potential 5...7 t/ha. In this article 78 spring and winter mutant lines were tested for agronomic data and protein content and quality at Harku in the period of 1989...1992. On the grounds of these experiments five mutant lines (three spring and two winter wheat) were provided for the state trials
