Nitrite-rich concentrates in pig feeding

In a trial a lot of high nitrite barley meal was used. The pigs which received this feed grew poorly. In two parallel groups glycosidase G3x was added, 0,3 and 0,1, respectively. As a result of such adding the body weight gain increased 12.5 resp. 6.1 per cent. The gain: feed ratio improved 9.9 resp. 6.5, respectively. Hence follows that glucosidase diminishes the negative influence of nitrites.
