To estimate two lots of mixed feed a trial with 30 cows was carried out. The cows were allotted into two groups, these of the first group received mixed feed made on the corn basis and the cows of the second group were fed mixed feed containing barley as the basic ingredient. The protein content of mixed feed was 15.8 and 16.5, respectively. From the whole protein content 60.5 resp. 66.5 was degradable in the rumen (RDP), the RDP content was in the mixed feed for the first group 9.6 and of the second group 11.0. During 8-wk. continued trial milk yield averaged in the first group 13.57 and in the second group 14.48 kg per day. Consequently, milk yield depends upon the balance within RDP and available for rumen microbes energy
