D3- and K3- vitamin as supplements to chicken feed

D-vitamin is important for bone mineralization and other metabolic reactions. It is very obligate for young chicken. K-vitamin is wellknown in poultry feeding like eggs enhancer, but it is unknown as a chicken growth factor. In two trials carried out with broiler chicken during the first month of their life supplements of vitamin D3(3000 IE/kg) and vitamin K3(2,5 mg/kg) were examinated. Vitamin D3 supplement had a positive influence on the growth of chicken, at the end of the trial the chickens of supplemental group were 23 g heavier as the chicken of control group. As result of supplementing the feed: gain ratio was lowered about 0,07 kg/kg. Enriching the mixed feed with vitamin K3 showed, that the chicken which received vitamin K3 consumed the feed more effective than the other ones, but the live weight gain was not improved. According to these trials we can recommend to enrich the broiler chicken feed with vitamin D3 (3000 IE/kg) and vitamin K3 (2,5 mg/kg).
