Clinical or subclinical ovine mastitis occurs in all countries of the world, in which sheep are kept and has serious adverse financial consequences. In this article, the aetiology, the pathogenesis and the diagnosis of the disease are presented and challenges related to its epidemiology and control are discussed. The literature related to ovine mastitis is also reviewed.
