This paper, the material of which has been based mainly on literature and on information collected by the Greek Ministry of Agriculture, Dept. of Pomology, deals with: 1) History of nectarine cultivation, 2) area covered with each nectarine variety, 3) time of ripening of the most important varieties, 4) susceptibility to frost damage, 5) low temperature requirements for breaking the bud dormancy, 6) yield of some nectarine varieties in comparison with peaches in high density orchards, 7) rootstocks for nectarines and 8) recommendations for successful nectarine cultivation.
