Microscopic fungi infecting the core of almond /Amygdalus communis L./

In 1993, the moulding or the core of almond was caused by 4 Aspergillus, 5 Penicillium, 1 Alternaria and l Monilinia spp. Sometimes one almond is infected by several fungi. Most frequently occur the following species: Alternaria tenuis Nees, Aspergillus flavus Link and Penicillium terrestre Jensen. The average infection amounts to l4.4 %. The infected almonds are light, their weight decreases by 47.2 % on an average, and their kernel is unsuitable for human consumption
