To determine the effect of supplementation of extra Prolactin (PRL) to the culture medium on the maturation, fertilization and development of bovine oocytes in vitro, bovine oocytes were incubated under following 4 treatments; Treatment 1, the maturation medium supplemented with extra PRL; Treatment 2, the development medium supplemented with extra PRL; Treatment 3, both of the medium supplemented with extra PRL; Treatment 4, no PRL supplementation. The result showed that the extra PRL supplemented to the maturation medium improved the rate of maturation of bovine oocytes in vitro, but the PRL supplementation to the development medium exerted and adverse effect on the development of fertilized oocytes. The rate of cleavage of oocytes in Treatment 1 was a little better than that in Treatment 4. With the result obtained in the present study and the consideration with other results reported, it is concluded that the extra PRL supplemented may have a little, if any, effect on the development of bovine oocytes fertilized
