The enzymatic synthesis of phenyl glycosides with commercial microbial enzyme (Cellulase T Amano) was studied. Arbutin and novel glycosides were synthesized in the presence of hydroquinone, resorcinol and catechol. The transfer product from resorcinol was separated by charcoal and silica gel column chromatography, and it was identified as 1-O-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl resorcinol, a new glucoside by 13C-NMR spectroscopy
