Further studies on the use of salt, vegetable oil and insecticide on the control of Dermestes maculatus Degeer infesting dried fish in storage

Dried synodontis sp. treated with 2 and 4 actellic solution had the least weight 100ss compared with other samples treated with vegetable oil and 10 salt solution. No Dermestes maculatus adults and larvae were noticed in the actellic treated samples whereas these were present in other samples with the control recording the highest dermestes beetle. This shows that the tested control measures were not as effective as actellic in controlling the devastating effects of insects on dried fish
