A study on the use of indigenous materials as alternative culture media for Pleurotus sajor-caju (Fr.) was undertaken to evaluate which culture media from experimental indigenous materials used would yield luxuriant growth of P. sajor-caju. All the indigenous culture media supported mycelial growth of P. sajor-caju. Statistical analysis revealed that rice bran sucrose gulaman (RBSG) was the best medium for mycelial growth of P. sajor-caju. The shortest duration for mycelial proliferation was on rice bran sucrose gulaman. Moreover, the highest mean of daily increment of mycelial growth of P. sajor-caju was obtained from RBSG. It was recommended that other media such as rice washing sucrose gulaman (RWSG), coconut water sucrose gulaman (CWSG), carabao dung sucrose gulaman (CDSG), rice straw sucrose gulaman (RSSG), and sugarcane bagasse sucrose gulaman could be an excellent alternative culture media. Chicken dung sucrose gulaman (ChDSG) was observed to support luxuriant mycelial growth but it was susceptible to contamination
