Koreleski, J. (Instytut Zootechniki, Krakow (Poland))
Four experiments on Astra B broiler chickens fed a diet containing 69.14-74.63 percent of ground common (Dema and Roland v.) or hulless (Poa-2 and POA-3 v.) barley were carried out. Enzyme preparations: Novozym 343 and Biofeed-Plus as well as acid preservative, Cytronix as a feed additives were evaluated. The highest protein efficiency index for Poa-2 and that the lowest for Dema in rat growth-tests was stated. No effect of barley varieties on broiler chicken growth performance was observed. Effect of grain non-starch carbohydrate content but not crude fibre level on barley nutritive value was obtained. Beneficial effect of all of tested feed additives on weight gain and feed conversion efficiency in broiler chickens was stated
