Breeding value of some cultivars and lines of pepper (Capsicum annuum L.)

The yielding of cultivars and F1 diallel hybrids were compared in two kinds of cultivations. The heterosis effects in F1 hybrids general combining ability and heritability of a yield, the number of fruit per plant and the average fruit weight were estimated. The greatest general combining ability of yield was found in a cultivar Stano. Only this cultivar was characterized by a positive general ability of the fruits number per plant. The positive value of general combining ability on average fruit weight was confirmed in cultivar Kano. These two cultivars may be regarded as valuable material for further breeding
