Species composition and numerousness of acarofauna in natural hive debris of wintering bee colonies

Acarological analyses of hive debris samples of 1783 honey bee colonies collected from 113 Polish apiaries were conducted during 4 years. Forty eight mite species were determined; some specimens belonging to about 24 genera and families were not be specified. Some of stated species are common parasites of bees; the majority of others, especially free living acarids are commensal of bees, associated also with hive products. Bee hive debris was settled also with coprophagous and necrophagous invaders. Worker bees transport them often occasionally during visiting of flowers and collecting nectar, pollen or propolis. Among listed bee hive mite species there are some new for Polish fauna
