Frequency of gene and the influence of genotype RYR1 on growth and body composition of pigs of three breeds

Malignant Hyperthermia Syndrome (MHS) gene test was used for RYR1 genotype determination of 236 boars of Swedish and German landrace and Large White on the test station Ptuj. For all three breeds Swedish and German landrace and Large White relatively low gene frequencies of n allele, 0.16, 0.22 and 0.04 respectively, were found. The influence of the RYR1 genotype on the growth of muscle and fat tissue was statistical significant. Heterozygous animals (Nn) were leaner and showed better feed conversion between 30 and 60 kg of weight.
