Progeny test of brown breed bulls on fattening and carcass characteristics

Intention of research was to evaluate the influence of fathers, the influence of American brown breed genotype share and the influence of calves arrival season on different important fattening and carcass characteristics. Fathers and American brown breed genotype share and significant influences on average daily gain from birth to slaughter, on daily gain in testing period from 150 kg to slaughter, on net gain and on conformation index. Influence of calves arrival season shows tendency to worse results at calves, which arrived to test from September to December. There was no significant influence neither of fathers nor of American brown breed genotype share and not even of season share at more than half dissected carcasses. This is probably the consequence of large variability within the groups and therefore the consequence of too small number of analyzed specimens. Relative value index was calculated from LSQ values and economic values of particular characteristics
