The first cuttings of inbred alfalfa lines (S2 and S3) grown for the second year were studied for dry mass yield, cellulose content, proteins and yield of proteins. The lines significantly differed according to dry mass yield (1726-5989 kg/ha), protein content (15.92-22.97), cellulose content (15.10-27) and protein yield (356-1155 kg/ha). Interrelation of the studied characters was most often expressed in dry mass yield and protein yield r=0.98 (S2) and r=0.95 (S3). A weak positive correlation was registered between dry mass yield and cellulose content r=0.54 (S2) and negative correlation between dry mass yield and protein content r=-0.47 (S2). Protein content and cellulose content were in weak negative correlation in S3 generation (r=-0.45).
