Yield and grain quality of spring forage pea depending on number of plants

Under the semiarid conditions of Vojvodina (Yugoslavia), the research was conducted to test the grain yield and quality of three varieties of spring forage peas, NS-Lim, NS-Junior and Poneka. Plant number was 130, 80 and 57 plants per square m, i.e., row-to-row distances were 15, 25 and 35 cm. The variety NS-Junior had highest grain yield with dens stand (15 cm), while the varieties NS-Lim and Poneka gave high grain yield with 25 cm row-to-row distance (80 plants per square m). The studied varieties have the favourable chemical composition of seed. In seed, 18 amino acids were found, of which 9 were essential, with high lysine content (1.49) and low content of sulphuric amino acids.
