[Genetical control of nitrates accumulation in tomato fruits]

As a result of diallel analysis of nitrates accumulation inheritance in tomato fruit, it was revealed that this character is inherited according to the dominance and overdominance type towards their minimum accumulation. Partenocarpic variety Beta is a representative of the maximum nitrate content due to recessive gene impact. The forms with minimum general combining ability may be used as donors of low nitrates content. The nitrates content in tomato fruit can be reduced by developing heterotic hybrids F1 as well as by linear selection for decreasing the accumulation of toxicant products
