From 1993 to 1995, 26 varieties of smooth meadow grass (Poa pratensis L.) and 6 foxtail (Alopecurus pratensis L.) varieties were tested in different experimental fields in Switzerland. Their agronomic value was assessed taking into account dry matter yield, resistance to leaf diseases, competitive ability in mixture with clovers, persistence, and digestible organic matter content.
