The former and present distribution, phytosociological amplitude, ecology, and vulnerability of five endangered plant species (Campanula persicifolia, Cephalanthera longifolia, Cephalanthera rubra, Cypripedium calceolus, Orchis purpurea) were investigated in the Bernese Mittelland and at the southern foot of the Jura (Switzerland). Possible measures for the protection of the species as a whole and of individual populations are discussed
