An analysis on correlation between plant number and yield in maize (Zea mays L.) by models with different biological validity

The results of the four years showed that the linear function can be well used to predict the correlation between individual production and plant number in the region of the 6090.000 plant/ha tested. The accuracy of approximation was estimated by r-value and the extent of the remainder square amounts. During regression analysis significance of results were also tested. From linear approximation an extrapolation may be done only in some cases, so e.g. a maximum individual production can not be estimated in many cases
