A Hungarian professor's research work and activity on the field of mineral metabolism is appreciated. Phosphorus content of feedstuffs according to the rainfall and the maturity stage is reviewed. Utilization of phosphorus by piglets from different P sources, degree of P storage in bones of sows during pregnancy and suckling in comparison with non pregnant controls fed the same diet are evaluated. Relationship between ash and P content of bones of ruminants and P supply of ruminants and horses in Hungary depending on soil types are also discussed
