As part 3 of the study "aluminium tolerance of mulberry trees", mulberry trees were characterized in terms of the contents and distribution of aluminium. 1) The mulberry trees could be ascribed to the category of non-aluminium accumulator plants. 2) The aluminium content was very high in the blades and periderm of mulberry trees. 3) Aluminium accumulated in mulberry body was found to be removed by the leaf abscission and the exfoliation of periderm (cork-tissue). These findings suggest that the perennial mulberry has the superior functions of aluminium exclusion
