[The breeding of new rice variety suitable for the medium mountain areas]

The way of breeding the rice variety suitable to medium area was studied, being defined the variational characters of varieties according to the ecological area. The growing duration of new rice variety "S-2" is 150 to 155 days, and early mature variety and the growing accumulated temperature; 10 centigrade; 2700-2800 centigrade. Plant density per Pyong is 130-150 hills, 4-5 plants per hill in case of transplanting. It is rational to apply the nitrogen fertilizer 100-120 kg/ha
