Development of a slender-ship theory for radiation problems

A slender-ship theory for the radiation problems of both mono and twin hull ships sailing with finite speed is proposed. For mono hull ships, the present theory is very similar to Kim's generalized theory, but different in the three-dimensional effects of the velocity potential represented by the doublet distribution on the longitudinal axis for lateral motions. The extension of that of twin hull ships is carried out in the same manner as the unified theory. The present theory can predict the radiation forces and moments at any frequency and any speed of practical interest for ship motions of five degrees of freedom, and also can estimate the wave resistance of ships by taking the limit of omega=0
