Cytological and allozyme variations between rice leaffolders, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis and Marasmia patnalis from the Philippines were investigated. Chromosomes of the two species were observed to be holocentric, irregularly shaped, and different in number, size, and behavior at mitotic stages. Esterase patterns during development differed in the two species. Heterogeneity was also observed in their isocitric dehydrogenase, acid phosphatase and malate dehydrogenase loci
