Competitiveness of Polish agriculture

A thesis of overvaluated exchange rate in the time span 1991-93 has been formulated and supported by the calculations of equilibrium exchange rate with the use of Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) method. Competitiveness of the sectors in question has been measured by Domestic Resource Cost (DRC) coefficient using the nominal and the equilibrium exchange rates. DRC coefficient calculated at the equilibrium exchange rate shows comparative advantage in both sectors. A conclusion appears that the more competitive is a sector the less protection it is given and vice versa
