The geomorphodynamic processes and pedological cover of Bistrita hills (Bistrita-Nasaud district) [Romania]

The investigation area is located in the North Transilvania. Geologically, this region is situated at the interference of two structures of Transilvania depression: monoclinal and diapir fold. To the East, Bistrita hills are in contact with Bargau and Calimani mountains. They are of volcanic origin. On the geomorphological view, Bistrita hills are a complex region, with numerous processes of slope. We mention the most important ones: accelerated erosion, gully erosion, landslides. Soil cover is characterized by the presence of brown eumesobasic soil, gray brown podzolic soil, albic luvisol and the slope, regosol, litosol, erodisol. On the Bistrita terrace, ruling soils are grey podzolic soils and albic luvisol, both moderate and strong pseudogleyzation. Andosols are characteristic for this area. These soils had advanced on the plain denudation (water-parting Somes-Bistrita), with the parental material as andesites gravels.
