Influence of temperature and mineral supply on cellulase activity and micromycete development in samples of peat from the upper bog

Cellulase activity (CA) was determined and succession of micromycetes was followed in samples of peat from the upper bog. The effect of mineral supply (N.P.K.S.) and temperature (25 and 38 degrees C) was studied. The lowest CA and the highest diversity of micromycetes were revealed without nutrients at temperature 25 degrees C. Raise of temperature up to 38 degrees C and addition of nutrients resulted in increase of CA and decrease and alteration of micromycete diversity. Determination of cellulase activity at different concentrations of nutrients (corresponded to 50, 250, and 1000 mg N/kg) at temperature 38 degrees C showed that maximum value of CA was similar in all variants and the longest stimulating effect being registered at concentration of 1000 mg N/kg.
