Soluble protein patterns in barley infected with the barley powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis f.sp hordei Marchal)

The present paper deals with the changes in soluble protein patterns and differences in chlorophyll a and b content in the primary leaves of some cultivars of barley carrying different resistance genes to barley powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis f.sp hordei Marchal). The obtained results showed quantitative and qualitative changes in the content of both basic and acidic proteins after infection by powdery mildew, pathotypes RU-3 and 129-13. Changes induced by both pathotypes appeared in smaller molecular weight. Acidic proteins with peroxidase activity exhibit both quantitative and qualitative isozyme differences. In genotypes sensitive to pathotypes RU-3 and 129-13 were detected new proteins with Mr - 44, 40, 33, 26, 25, 24, 17 and 15 kDa. For cultivars sensitive to pathogens, the content of chlorophyll a was lower in comparison to controls.
